In Arena of Valor there are 6 roles you can play on:

ASSASSIN

As an assassin role you have an ability to quickly kill enemies and have higher mobility for escaping and to avoid death.

MARKSMAN

As a Marksman role you will become more useful later in game if they gain a significant gold advantage

MAGE

As a Mage role you can kill enemy heroes using high damage spells with low cooldowns.

WARRIOR

 As a Warrior role you are the iniator of teamfights. Usually you are the playmaker of the game.

TANK

As a tank role you have the ability to last longer in team fights, you are always on frontlines.

SUPPORT

As a support role you can focus less on amassing gold and items to gain an advantage for the team.
